Lisa Winberg and Siri Silfvergren are currently working on their bachelor’s thesis, which focuses on the tree population along Stångån, a river that flows through the city of Linköping. They have conducted an inventory of approximately 10 kilometers of the green corridor created by the river, collecting data on tree species, trunk diameter, vitality, presence of tree cavities, and dead wood. The aim of theirthesis is to draw conclusions about species composition and tree structure. In addition, they include a discussion—based on our findings—on what measures should or should not be taken in the area to promote a stable and sustainable ecosystem in the future.
